Travel insurance

On most 2North departures, travel insurance is not required, but we always recommend purchasing a policy to cover your trip in the event of disruption, delay, or medical emergency.

When travel insurance is required for one of our trips, we’ll make sure it is clearly noted on the trip webpage and in the detailed trip brochure.

Whether required or voluntary, you’re free to choose any provider you prefer. That said, we’re pleased to partner with an insurance provider we trust and respect. Read more about Wanderwell below.

We recommend, and are proud to partner with Wanderwell, a Certified B Corporation travel insurance provider with whom we have had personal experience since 2017.

They don’t overwhelm you with options, offering modern, benefit-packed trip protection plans that can cover the most common travel perils related to trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, travel medical expenses, baggage and personal effects, emergency medical evacuation, and more. In addition, they’re just good people, doing good things the right way, and we know their Head of Insurance personally.

If you choose to purchase through Wanderwell—which you can do via our partner page—at least 1% of your purchase premium price will be donated to the Planet Impact Fund through the 1% for the Planet network.

Whichever company you end up using to provide coverage, we recommend buying it shortly after paying the trip deposit. Some benefits of coverage are time sensitive, limiting your protection as you get farther from the date of initial deposit. Some examples of time sensitive benefits are: embedded coverage for pre-existing conditions, the optional Cancellation For Any Reason (CFAR).

Generally, it is recommended to purchase a travel insurance protection plan within 10 days of making your initial trip payment of any kind for this trip.
